ABOUT:
The Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Imphal was established in 1988, which is one of the 19(nineteen) such institutes in India under the aegis of the National Council for Co-Operative Training (NCCT) , registered society under Societies Registration Act 1860 ,promoted by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.
FUNCTIONS:
ICM, Imphal is dedicated to three functional areas:
A. Training
B. Research and
C. Consultancy
OBJECTIVES:
The focal objective of this Institute is to develop human resources through catering need-based trainings to the manpower of State Governments of Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland, cooperative organisations, NGOs, private enterprises/undertakings and individuals for fitting themselves in the competitive business environment.
The specific objectives are:-
A. To cater training needs to the personnel of governmental organisations, cooperative organisations, NGOs and private enterprises.
B. To culture value-based professional management in all sectors and sub-sectors including cooperatives, NGOs, enterprises etc.
C. To conduct action research, problem research and policy based research from time to time for finding the management solutions to the governmental and non-governmental organisations/ institutions/enterprises.
D. To render management and project consultancy services to the user organisations/institutions.
E. To take up socio-economic development projects in the context of sustainable development of the N.E. Region and the nation.
CORE PROGRAMMES :
A. HDCM
This Institute has been operating a core management programme called “Higher Diploma in Cooperative Management(HDCM)” since its inception(1988) . So far 33 HDCM programmes have been successfully conducted.
B. PGDCA
The Institute has been offering a post graduate programmes under Manipur University
- one year Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA)
C. BBA
The Institute has opened a graduate course under Manipur University from the academic session 2009-10.

D. COMPUTER PROGRAMMES:
This Institute has been conducting 12 Week Certificate Course on Computer Application and 6 Months Certificate Course on Computer Application. This programme was launched in 1997 with the objective to enhance the working knowledge of personal computers, working with DOS and Windows environment of the participants. This programme ensures effective interaction to participants with the latest trend of applications like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Access, Adobe Photoshop, Coral Drew, Adobe Pagemaker, Turbo C etc.
The Institute has been also conducting 2 Months Certificate Course on Computer Based Accounting, Inventory Control, Pay Roll and Tax Accounting Using Tally Prime. This programme was launched in 2009 with the objective to enhance the working knowledge of Accounting, Inventory Control and Payroll Using Tally.
E. OTHER PROGRAMMES:
The Institute offers various short term courses on credit and banking, marketing, processing, consumer, handloom, handicrafts, dairy, fisheries, general management, accounts and audit, cooperative laws, allied laws, agriculture and allied activities, project planning and management, hospital management innovative NGO management etc.
During the last three years the Institute has operationalised entrepreneurship development and SKILL DEVELOPMENT training programmes.
CLASS ROOM :
There are 6(six) class rooms, one Seminar Hall which are well furnished with all modern teaching aids including video projector, overhead projector, digital projector, digital video camera, computer etc.
To make the training programmes useful and purposive for developing skills and attitudes, maximum opportunities are provided to the participants for ensuring effective participatory learning.
COMPUTER LAB:
The Institute has two well equipped computer Lab with 60 PCs of latest technology to facilitate excellence in IT based training programmes. This Institute has acquired various Operating Systems like- MS-DOS and different version of Windows O.S. and various Softwares packages like Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, Turbo C, Tally Prime, Adobe Pagemaker 7 etc.
The Lab is also equipped with an overhead projector on each Lab for audio visual aid.
High speed Internet connectivity is available in the both the lab.
LIBRARY:
The library of the Institute is well furnished and it possesses over 16,000 books on various areas like, cooperation, business management, human resource management, marketing, consumer, economics, accounts & finance, audit, banking, operations research, project planning & management, rural development, entrepreneurship, computer, insurance, tourism etc. It also subscribes 59 news paper (English, Hindi & Manipuri) /journals/ magazines.
