The Institute of Co-Operative Management (ICM), Imphal is one of the nineteen such institutes in the country and functions under the over all control of the National Council for Co-Operative Training (NCCT) ,registered society under Societies Registration Act 1860 ,promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.
The Institute is located at Lamphelpat, Co-Operative Complex, Imphal,795004 with a pleasant natural environment, the distance from Imphal city is 5km and from the airport is 15km.The Institute is accessible to all means of transport.
A Brief History :
- On the basis of the recommendations of All India Rural Credit Survey Committee, constituted by RBI in 1953, a three-tier setup for the training of the cooperative personnel, functioning at various levels was established.
- Under the three-tier setup for the training, National Institute of cooperative management (VAMNICOM, PUNE) is looking after training needs of the senior personnel of cooperatives of the country.
- The ICMs (Institutes of Cooperative Management, 19 Institutes scattered all over the country) are looking after the training needs of the middle level officers/managers of cooperatives. ICM, Imphal is one of them (Estd in the year 1988).
- The Institute, since its inception on 23rd February 1988, has been catering to the training needs of various cooperative organization, government Departments, NGOs and other National and State Institutions as well as other Organizations.
